“Aida” considered masterpiece of Italian opera arts was staged for the first time in Armenia back in 1941 and remained in the repertoire of A. Spendiaryan Opera and ballet national academic theatre till the beginning of 1990s. With aim to stage “Aida” in Armenia the Ministry of Culture of Armenia invited a renowned Italian opera director Mario Corradi. At the opening nights taken place on 23 and 25 December 2010 Aida was embodied by one of Europe’s famous female opera singers, a soprano of Armenian origin Hasmik Papian, who is currently residing in Austria and visited Armenian especially to participate in this performance.
